EVENING DANCES 2017 - 2018
Impro based, prayerful, focused and committed Spiderflower: Contemporary Earth Dance is powerfully grounded in earth and in body.
Initiating the bodies innate ability to story tell from deep within, Spiderflower exists in the place where the choreography of the natural world meets that of human nature.
Through a dynamic and unique dance form that is at once precise yet in eternal freefall, 3 hour sessions accompanied by world music, silence and the frame drum combine basic technique with deeper exploration as we celebrate the individual theme of each dance.
Evening Dances create a complete cycle as they flow through the earth year. They are designed to support dancers, actors, musicians, artists and creatives from all walks of life develop a fluid connection with their internal landscape and creative choreography, at the same time as expanding their movement repertoire.
Perfect for newcomers to take Spiderflower: Contemporary Earth Dance for a spin, or experienced dancers to deepen their practice.
Dance intensives such as BEING HUMAN: (Or The Vulnerable Magician), THE SEA or THE FLOWER DRUM will carry a pre-requisite where dancers must be known to Spiderflower from 2018. Evening Dances provide rhythm and practice ground before and after any major dance.

Dancers are welcome to come into the space slightly early from 18.30 to change and settle into the space.

NOTES FOR DANCERS
THE STORIES WE WRITE: DANCE CYCLE FOR 2017 / 2018
For 2017/18 my attention has been drawn to THE STORIES WE WRITE - OR ARE YET TO WRITE. We are living in a time where the story of the wider whole is changing profoundly. Each of us contribute to that story, and for those working at grassroots level this is a time of great opportunity to root down, bring the stories that are yet to be written to life.
Throughout 2017 / 18 we’ll be running with this theme to explore the difference between the story we write in life from our existing choreography and how that story may change when we start to dialogue with creation.
As a connective dance form, Spiderflower is solely interested in connecting the human being with the momentum of creation we find within the natural world. Observing the basic principle that ‘we are born of the substance of earth’, Spiderflower understands the body shares the same incredible intelligence and creative power that is held within nature. When we bring the two together through the dance, this union acts like a combination key to unlock creative potential.

Between the Weaver, the Corn & Creation

Weaving is an ancient art.
It is true - we are the weavers of our life.
Between the Weaver, the Corn & Creation is a well developed set for Spiderflower.
We look to the choreography within our creative story, our ability to co-create and explore how our creative channels are in flow between inner and outer worlds.
This is a dance of humour, untangling and co-creativity.
