AN INTERACTIVE EVENT
This after-twilight event for FABRICA revolves around the six short films (or STANZAS) which make up A PECULIAR SHADE OF BLUE.
It has an extended structure that invites audience members to engage in ways that can enhance their experience and support exploration:
-
PREPARATION: Walking, writing, gathering natural materials ahead of the event.
-
PARTICIPATION: Upon arrival audience members are invited to contribute to a simple installation with materials they bring. This ice-breaker creates focus and holds the space.
-
DRINKS + DISCUSSION: A space for our audience to reflect on their immediate experience of the films and wider experience of grief.

Clear directives on the above will be given upon booking.

-
LONGER WORKSHOPS: Day or weekend workshops in earth-engaged performance can be offered at a later date for extended exploration on request.
ABOUT FABRICA

FABRICA is a visual arts organisation based in a former regency church in the heart of Brighton where artists come to make new work.

The organisation supports artists to test the boundaries of their practice, at the same time, encourages an open dialogue between artists and visitors to produce an integrated programme of education and audience activity that strives to remove barriers to access, engagement and understanding.
FABRICA offer interlinked strands through an EXHIBITION PROGRAMME; support for ARTISTS' PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT; LEARNING + EDUCATION for schools, higher education and community groups, while HEALTH + WELLBEING work across all programmes to provide creative and inspirational ways of developing better mental health and well being through art.

FABRICA voiced interest in A PECULIAR SHADE OF BLUE as it builds upon themes explored through their end of life project INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT which ran between 2015 - 2016. FABRICA presented over 100 events alongside 3 exhibitions which all broached and developed conversations around death and dying, grief and remembrance with diverse and hard to reach audiences.
You can visit archives on this remarkable project HERE.
While INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT has completed, this body of work has gone on to influence FABRICA'S autumn exhibition CARE(LESS) by Lindsay Seers, and they have recently worked with ARTICULATE to deliver workshops for bereaved children aged 5 - 12.
