Is a response to the climactic times in which we live.
Originated by Rowan Jacqueline and in development since 1999, Spiderflower is a dynamic dance movement theatre practice
concerned with bridging the ancient and intelligent relationship
between body and earth.
Rooted in the ancient, yet dedicated to evolving new artistic forms meaningful for today, Spiderflower is a research based practice. This entire body of work is devoted to the progressive inquiry into the phenomenal relationship between the natural world, and us, as a human race through the expressive arts.
Spiderflower works through two different arenas: Spiderflower: Contemporary Earth Dance is an open forum of exploration and training for actors, dancers and creatives wanting to develop their creativity through dance, movement, percussion and wilderness practice. Classes, residentials and courses for mixed groups and women only are offered in the UK and overseas.
Within Spiderflower, specific research projects take place on an ongoing basis, and in time will offer up original material that is important to share with the wider whole. Tattered Butterfly Arts exists as the performance wing for Spiderflower's work, taking research up to a performance level.
As a base for exploration and empowerment, Spiderflower's purpose is to support a beautiful, passionate and diverse community of change-makers develop and gift their work to the world, whilst on a broader level crack open the pulchritudinous nature of life itself into a new genre of performance.
Spiderflower forms the heartbeat and foundation
of all working structures within Tattered Butterfly Arts.
Please note: Spiderflower is not 'shamanism'.
It is a body of new work focused on the earth / body relationship
explored via the expressive arts.
