Spiderflower's work is often site specific and developed as a result of relationship with the land. All courses require an indoor studio, most with access to a natural setting. Where a specific environment is required (such as woodland, water etc) - please see this noted.

Works with the connected voice, with specific focus on sound and the spoken word. This set opens out the actors vocal potential as it introduces sound as a connective element.

Rooted in the relationship between the elemental world and human being, this foundation course opens the space to explore the dynamics of creation as they weave between our humanness and the base, yet eternally creative substance of which we are made.

One of the most empowering and transformational courses in Spiderflower's repertoire, The River That Finds Us journeys into the shared language of emotion, the body and natural world.
With particular emphasis on how emotion travels through the physical body, we work to understand how landscape acts as a mirror to human expression.
The course presents actors with the opportunity to understand their emotional choreography as a creative force, whilst initiating a path of co-creativity between body and earth.

BONES OF THE OLD BOAT
Foundation Course (Part 3):
4 x 5 Day Blocks

Bones of the Old Boat examines the very roots of theatre, exploring its origin, our human need for it and potential it has in the extraordinary times we are living through.
​
Specific focus sits with an actors relationship with the audience. Paying attention to 'the collective' experience of performance, both from the perspective of the ensemble and from the audience, we explore how place and space can act as an important vehicle to carry the collective journey.

THE ACTOR AS CONDUIT
1 Year Course
​
Working to combine all elements of shorter modules into a year course, THE ACTOR AS CONDUIT is for actors who want to work with continuum in order to deepen their knowledge in all areas of Spiderflower's approach, whilst specifically expanding their acting, voice and movement skills within a regular practice.
​
We work toward a final performance over the year, as central focus sits with steady repetition of Spiderflower's core principles and holding structures to bridge into theatre and performance technique.
​
In conjunction, we observe how dynamics within the natural world morph and change over the seasons, so opening space to explore the complex inter-relationship existent between body, human life-cycle and earth - which in turn adds significant gravity to how an actor might approach character, or the ensemble might present story.
​
